What forms the perfect pizza? Could it be a pillowy soft dough kneaded and shaped by gentle hands? Could it be one that’s lathered in luscious tomato sauce and covered with generous lashings of stretchy cheese? Or could it be that the entire ensemble is kissed by a woodfired oven and topped with a tangle of fresh herbs?
For us at abillion, it’s all of the above — and vegan. Such is the experience at Purezza, the UK’s first 100 percent vegan pizzeria. Sure, it’s a chain, but it’s one that has swept up a slew of awards. That includes the likes of the Campionato Mondiale Della Pizza — a prestigious competition held yearly in Parma, Italy where it was the first ever vegan winner.
Key to its quality is the fact that founders Tim Barclay, Stefania Evangelisti and Filippo Rosato have gone to great lengths researching and investing in ingredients. Its plant-based mozzarella for instance took years to develop, resulting in a product that tastes and melts much like the real deal.
Some of its well-loved menu items includes the Parmigiana Party which abillion user @veroniqueteque reviews, “Hands down the best pizza I've ever had in my life (I'm Italian and I have tried the best pizza in Napoli so I know what I'm talking about). A friend from Napoli had it when visiting London and he confirmed. You cannot go wrong with Purezza.”
