The thoroughfare that is Skene Street is much like the rest of Aberdeen in Scotland where grey granite buildings flank each side. But keep your eyes peeled and you will spot Bonobo Cafe — a cosy gem that’s run as a worker’s cooperative. It also supports Willows Animal Sanctuary, which looks after over 500 animals.
Here, the grey streets outside melt away. The cafe’s interiors are as colorful as its brand of vegan British food. The main dining area is upstairs and there’s a terrace garden outfitted with heating and turquoise pergolas.
Menu-wise, the Bonobo Mac is well-loved amongst our members. Here, macaroni pasta meets a creamy squash and ‘sheese’ sauce that’s given a flavorsome lift with garlic oil. @annamango says, “This is probably the best mac and cheese I've had!! Not dry at all, and super cheesy flavour. Texture is spot on. Big portion too! Also came with some reeeeally nice garlic bread.”
Don’t leave without trying the Deluxe Hot Chocolate with Cream, Marshmallows and Choc Chips — especially if it’s cold outside. It’s perfect to warm your hands with and comes topped with a heaping of soy whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
